    Jewish American Heritage Month is celebrated every May to honor the history, culture, and significant contributions of Jewish Americans to the United States. Established as a national observance in 2006, this month recognizes the achievements of Jewish Americans in areas such as science, government, the arts, and civil rights, and encourages all Americans to learn more about Jewish heritage and the diversity it brings to the nation. The month also highlights the long history of Jewish Americans, who have been part of the country since 1654, and their ongoing role in shaping American society.

    These lesson plans provide educators as well as homeschool families with resources on how the rich genre of graphic novels about the Holocaust can be included within a unit on the Holocaust.

    Exploring the history of the Jewish people in Europe is valuable in order for students to recognize what was lost in the Holocaust. Studying the Holocaust should include a reflection on what was lost in terms of the rich and varied culture and life experiences of Jews throughout Europe.

    How do we define genocide? Where is genocide taking place today? How does social media play a role in either suppressing information about crimes against humanity or spreading false information about current events?
